Hunt Military Communities has designed, developed, built and construction managed more housing for armed forces personnel than any other entity. As a privately owned firm, we offer unique management and operational efficiencies that a public company might not have. Our fully integrated family of companies has the depth of expertise and experience needed to provide turnkey solutions for the demanding standards of the Department of Defense.

Since 1969, we have built or are currently constructing over 65,000 homes for military families, with project costs in excess of $8 billion. Drawing upon the experience of more than half a century in planning, construction and management of residential and commercial properties of all types, Hunt is strongly positioned to remain at the forefront of housing development for United States military personnel and their families.

For almost 40 years, Hunt's development and building activities for the armed forces have focused on project procurement through the traditional military construction (MILCON) program. However, under the 1996 Defense Authorization Act, the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) allows private sector real estate developers, builders and property managers to partner with the Department of Defense to provide affordable, high-quality homes for our men and women in uniform and their families. Since the inception of this program, Hunt has has become a leader in the Military Privatization Market, having been awarded 26 MHPI projects comprised of over 31,500 units with project costs in excess of $5.5 billion.

The following skill sets make Hunt an ideal partner for the Department of Defense in this unique public-private (PPV) program:

  • A long-term vision, with long-term ownership objectives
  • Experience with large, complex projects
  • Ability to forge partnerships and share success
  • Commitment to our service members and their families
  • Decades of traditional military construction experience
  • Decades of property management and maintenance experience

We can utilize our experience in both public and private sectors to make effective use of this program and bring quality housing to military personnel.
