However, under the 1996 Defense Authorization Act, the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) allows private sector real estate developers, builders and property managers to partner with the Department of Defense to provide affordable, high-quality homes for our men and women in uniform and their families. Since the inception of this program, Hunt has has become a leader in the Military Privatization Market, having been awarded 26 MHPI projects comprised of over 31,500 units with project costs in excess of $5.5 billion.
